Mainly the rolled products produced by DUNAFERR Company Group and cold rolled steel sections are distributed on its sites, but the overall range of metallurgical products can be found in their choice. The Steel Service Center, with its place of business in Dunaújváros, operates as a centre processing, packaging and distributing different steel products, which is the only steel product service centre in Hungary equipped so and of such a standard.

Today DUNAFERR Company Group with consolidated sales revenues
of over HUF 255 billion and its headquarters
in Dunaújváros is a determinant enterprise in the Hungarian
steel industry and one of the biggest production company
groups in Hungary. The production of the company group having
a history of over half a century – according to present demands
– is 1329 kilotons of hot metal, 1642 kilotons
of LD steel and 1450 kilotons of hot rolled
finished products on a yearly basis. According to its vertical
production structure, it produces the whole range of processed
products (cold rolled sheets, coated sheets, cold bent steel
sections, radiators, steel structures, custom-built equipment,
etc.) on the basis of hot rolled sheet products. Metallurgy,
steel processing and steel trade – as the main activities
– are integrated by additional branches of business (energy
supply, maintenance, logistics, manufacturing of machines
and parts, construction industrial main contracting, etc.).
In 2005 the domestic sales of its main products
(rolled flat products, profiles, radiators) were 550 kilotons,
and the export was 984 kilotons.
The market share of the company group on the domestic steel market has been significant for years. The bases of its activity are on the one hand the individual service provided for the big customers, the direct buyer-producer relationship, on the other hand the differentiated service of the small and medium customers. This is provided by its steel trade network established nation-wide, the so-called center network.

Company Group realizes a significant part of its sales revenues
on foreign markets and has a determinant role in the Hungarian
export volume regarding the quantities sold. Its most important
partners are the countries of the European Union, out of them
Germany and Italy. The development of direct supplier relations
and co-operation established with the European customers has
a dominant role in trade policy. The admission of Hungary to
the European Union requires the adaptation of the Hungarian
economy and the steel industry, as well as adoption of the
European trade practice. DUNAFERR Company Group has already
become an active participant of the European steel trade during
the past years. Over 83 per cent of the former export sales
were realized in the member countries of the European Union,
and with the accession of Hungary into the EU, they are regarded
as so-called intra-community sales. The company is an associated
member of the European Iron and Steel Industrial Association
(EUROFER) and also has a wide range of professional relations
with the European Iron and Steel Institute (IISI).
Today
the life of Dunaújváros and its region is influenced by the
economic activity, productivity, employment policy and public
life role of the company group in almost every respect. Its
close relationship with the town and its region determines
the regional tasks too. For years now, the company group has
been encouraging the initiatives that can serve the promotion
of the economic development of Dunaújváros and its region.
So the activity and management of DUNAFERR Company Group will
be of strategic importance also in the future from the point
of view of the successfulness and effectiveness of the Hungarian
economy, as well as the development of Dunaújváros. However,
the future of the company group is basically determined by
the development of the relations between Hungary and the member
countries of the European Union and the extremely quick changes
taking place in the steel industry of the world.
