In favour of its long-term operation DUNAFERR Co. Ltd. aimed the performance of demands and requirements of its interested partners (customers, employees, people living near the company, owners, authorities) and therefore applies the operation and continuous development of the management systems (ISO 9001, ISO 14001, OHSAS 18001/MSZ 28001) based on international standard.

Short history of the system

If we speak about DUNAFERR Co. Ltd.’s quality control and other certified systems we can begin with three lines: with the introduction of the history of Steelworks Kft. (1), DUNAFERR Co. Ltd. (2), METAB Kft.(3) and DUNAFERR Co. Ltd. (4) after the mergers.

The two production plants of Steelworks Ltd., Steelworks and the Hot rolling millworked in the quality system according to ISO 9002:1987 certified by Det Norske Veritas in 1992.

The significant development of the quality system, the acceptance and certification of the standard ISO 9001:1994took place at Steelworks Ltd. in 1995.

The quality system of the Blast-furnace was certified by FERRCERT Certifying and Auditing Ltd. in September 2000.

The establishment of the environment management systemmeeting the requirements of the standard ISO 14001:1996 started in the area of DUNAFERR Steelworks Ltd. in December 2001. The certifying company was FERRCERT Certifying and Auditing Ltd.

In 2002 the management of Steelworks Ltd. bound itself to introduce the occupational healthcare and safety management system and meanwhile to operate and certify the integrated management system.

DUNAFERR Co. Ltd.  Research Institute acquired the quality assurance system according to ISO 9001:1987, the auditing company was DET NORSKE VERITAS.

The mechanical, metallographical, surface physical and -chemical laboratories of the Research Institute were accredited by TÜV Rheinland InterCert Ltd. in 1996 and by GAZ Gesellschaft für Akkreditierung und Zertifizierung mbH in 1997. The validity of the certifications was continuously renewed by the Company.

DUNAFERR Co. Ltd. Human Institute was certifiedby FERRCERT Ltd. according to the standard ISO 9001:2000 in September 2001.

METAB Ltd. producing galvanized plates obtained the quality assurance certification according to ISO 9002:1987 in 1993.

DUNAFERR Steelworks Ltd. merged into DUNAFERR Co. Ltd. on 1st April, 2003, which company became the legal successor of the certifications given to DUNAFERR Steelworks Ltd. earlier.

The reorganization and certification of the quality management system according to the standard ISO 9001:2000 was realized within this integrated company in November 2003.

The new system was extended to all production plants of DUNAFERR Co. Ltd.  (Blast-furnace, Steelworks, Hot rolling mill, Transport Plant), as well as to the managing organization.

DUNAFERR Co. Ltd. Research Institute operates as Innovation Management in the future as of September 2003 as part of the above-mentioned integrated system.

METAB Ltd. continues its activity within the burdens of DUNAFERR Co. Ltd.  under the name Hot-Dip Galvanizing and Metalworks as of December 2003.

DUNAFERR Co. Ltd.’s senior management agreed on the joint certification of the integrated system – a standard-based management system at DUNAFERR Co. Ltd. – in 2004.

The standard-based management system meets the requirements set against quality assurance, environment management, occupational healthcare and safety management, as well as the inspection and calibrating laboratories.

The integrated audit was carried out in June 2005. It was successful therefore the standard-based management system of DUNAFERR Co. Ltd. became certified.

Further plans:

A market demand already exists to obtain the certification required for automotive industry supply (ISO/TS 16949:2002), as well as the possibility to introduce the system standard in informatics on the protection of information (ISO/IEC 17799:2000).
