Global financial market crisis caused economic slump world-wide affecting all sectors of the economy. Economic development slowed down, private consumption dropped and government investments were also cut back. All these affected the companies of production sector including steel industry as well. Slump in demand of processing industry entailed the decline in steel prices. As the result of financial and steel market crises, companies reacted by cutting down on production. These effects also influence the position of ISD DUNAFERR Zrt.
Due to the economic crisis generated as the result of international financial and credit crisis the present situation is not favourable for the steel sector either. Declining demand and the related reduction in steel prices forced steel makers to optimize and cut down on production.
Sales professionals of ISD DUNAFERR Zrt. will make all efforts to sell the most products possible in the present situation, however, it is very difficult to compensate the drastic drop in demand therefore production had to be adjusted to our sales. ISD DUNAFERR Zrt. co-operates with all of its partners to manage the global crisis affecting the company group and continuously informs its suppliers, customers, trade unions and employees about all measures.
To slacken the economic crisis the company’s management developed an action plan that specifies three measures - cost reduction, rescheduling the investment project according to priorities, and rescheduling the payments of social benefits.
Reduction of costs primarily means curbing the prices of raw materials, maintenance and administration costs in a way not threatening safe operation.
Second part of action plan defines the rescheduling of investment projects according their priority. Those ongoing and forthcoming investment projects are given priority that facilitate competitiveness and help maintain the present position on the steel market and are primary in terms of rate of return.
Third part of the action plan concerns the package of social benefits, which the company group only intends to introduce in the ultimate case. This measure can affect the payment of social benefits for previous period in no case. In this part of the action plan the company’s management seeks - in co-operation with trade unions - the possibility how the payment of social benefits could be rescheduled.
It is primary to keep workplaces at ISD DUNAFERR Zrt. and its subsidiaries even in this difficult situation.
The action plan may modify during its implementation but its priorities can change in no way.
