Our company ISD DUNAFERR Zrt. as member of DONBASS Industrial Union is a steelworks in Hungary . Our company operates according to integrated steel production technology that includes pig iron and steel production and covers hot rolled and cold rolled products, cold formed profiles and also hot dip galvanized products. We offer a wide range of steel products to our customers. Our primary goal is to meet the requirements of all interested parties as well as to comply with all legal and other regulations relevant to our company’s operation.
The requirements of QUALITY – ENVIRONMENT PROTECTION – LABOUR SAFETY / OCCUPATIONAL HEALTH determine our operations besides owner’s requirements. To fulfil these requirements we operate a third party certified integrated management system developed based on ISO 9001:2008, ISO 14001:2004, OHSAS 18001:2007 (MSZ 28001:2008) and ISO/IEC 17025:2005 standards and directives. This system covers the requirements of quality, environmental and labour safety management. When elaborating this system we used the company’s traditions and experiences of over 50 years as well as the professional knowledge on this specific field.
Due to the size of and technology used at our company we build upon close customer relations: we also produce in small quantities, and we supply both general and quality steel grades to our customers. Our management is committed to ensuring reliable supplies, flexible service and uniform product quality.
- ISD Dunaferr Zrt. is a reliable company because it supplies the products according to contracts, operates according to a transparent business policy, and strives to achieve long-term market presence, stable customer and supplier relations.
- ISD Dunaferr Zrt. is a flexible supplier because it is able to fulfil small quantity orders to short deadline, with wide range of products, in various methods of transportation, under different business terms and conditions.
- ISD Dunaferr Zrt. produces its products in uniformly good quality, its quality management system ensures the smooth running of production and supporting processes, it is possible to immediately take the necessary actions if defects are detected. We endeavour to fulfil our customers' requirements at the expected high standard by providing the special technology according to the technical-financial possibilities of our company.
Our company strives to minimize environment damaging effects throughout its operations.
As all metallurgical company, our company also has material and energy intensive operations with significant loads on environment.We look for material and energy saving technologies and if possible we use those as well. To be able to assess our environmental performance we operate an environmental monitoring system and implement environmental programmes in light of assessment results. Within such programmes we carry out significant environmental investments meeting legal requirements and public expectations.
Our company provides for its employees a working environment required for healthy and safe work that is expectable at a metallurgical company. Our risk assessment activities, scheduled labour safety audits, scheduled on-site inspections, labour safety programmes are implemented at the company in a harmonised system in order to handle and minimize workplace risks. Our managers and employees all strive to protect their and their colleagues' health, physical condition. Our company equips the employees with state-of-the-art personal protective equipment and requires, controls their usage.
We monitor, measure, analyse the characteristics of our operations in an integrated management system. We check the fulfilment of our goals based on the analysed data. Engineering-quality requirements, environmental related indicators as well as occupational health and labour safety indicators are equally included in our set of goals. In order to achieve our goals we require our employees to observe all relevant technology and other instructions, specifications, to accurately do their jobs. Each of our employees is responsible for the quality of work, for the protection of direct environment and the safety of own workstation.
Our management is committed to continually improve the processes and the integrated management system as well as to enhance the operational efficiency.

2010 The Year of Quality

While last year attention even greater than regular was paid on safety and health at work in everyday life of the company, this year the field of quality was brought into focus at the 60-year-old ISD DUNAFERR Zrt. Responding to the challenges of buyer’s steel market and the continuous change of customer demands the company management called this year the Year of Quality. Several programs will be organized up to the end of December in order to continue to firm the quality-conscious approach in company managers’ and employees’ thinking. Besides it remains a basic aim also in the future to improve the quality of products and processes and at the same time to increase customer satisfaction.

ISD Dunaferr outperformed the commitments undertaken in privatisation agreement

ISD Dunaferr Zrt. had already outperformed the investment commitments by the end of past year, and even surpassed employment, regional development commitments as well as personnel-type expenditures and working environment commitments. Figures for H1 2009 show that ISD Dunaferr, despite global economic and financial crisis and credit crunch, have treated the fulfilment of commitments undertaken in privatisation agreement as priority.

COMPROMISE AGREEMENT WAS REACHED

In order to reduce the effects of the global financial and steel industrial crisis and to maintain the operation at the company group, ISD Dunaferr Co. Ltd. prepared an action plan that will be executed step by step. Beyond reduction of production and operation related costs and reschedule of investments by making priorities, it was necessary to limit social benefits for half a year and postpone or reschedule the payment of other benefits, which are more favourable than the obligatory payments regulated by the Labour Code. As a result of difficult negotiation rounds a necessary compromise agreement was reached between the interest representation organisations and the employer.

Action plan at ISD DUNAFERR Zrt.

Global financial market crisis caused economic slump world-wide affecting all sectors of the economy. Economic development slowed down, private consumption dropped and government investments were also cut back. All these affected the companies of production sector including steel industry as well. Slump in demand of processing industry entailed the decline in steel prices. As the result of financial and steel market crises, companies reacted by cutting down on production. These effects also influence the position of ISD DUNAFERR Zrt.

A Change of Scale in ISD Dunaferr
The new equipment of the Cold Rolling Mill was inaugurated by Mr. Ferenc Gyurcsány, prime minister.

On Wednesday, 18 June the ceremonial inauguration of the new equipment under Phase I of the Cold Rolling Mill project of ISD Dunaferr Zrt. took place. Special guest of the ceremony was Mr. Ferenc Gyurcsány, prime minister of Hungary who, after the ceremony, carried on negotiations with Mr. Sergei Taruta, president of the Board of Directors of the Corporation ‘Industrial Union of Donbass’, president of the Supervisory Board of ISD Dunaferr Zrt., and also with the managers of the company at Dunaújváros. The event was attended by Mr. Dmitro Tkach, ambassador of Ukraine to Hungary, and Mr. András Bársony, ambassador extraordinary and plenipotentiary of Hungary to Ukraine as well.
